WELCOME to The Children’s Center! The mission of our non-profit childcare center, since it was established in 2005 as the Greene County Early Learning Center, has been to “provide quality care in a learning environment.” Thanks to many donors in our community including businesses, families, individuals and entities including Grow Greene County and the State of Iowa, we now have our own building at 306 South Vine in Jefferson.
Because “growth happens here,” we care for children two weeks of age up to 5th grade in a building that is especially designed for early childhood development and education in rooms that are created with each age in mind.
You want the best for your child and so do we. These early years are an important period of development and learning for your child. Childcare is a partnership: Parents know their child best and we know how children typically develop. When we share information, we build a bridge between home and childcare for your child.

The Children’s Center strives to build trusting relationships with children and their families. Our teachers have a love of children combined with professional training regarding children’s physical, cognitive, and language development with social-emotional skills as our focus. We use research-based knowledge to arrange classrooms into interest areas where we encourage individual and group learning. We believe all children learn through play, and daily routines are important.
Our center is open year-round, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. We are closed on the following days: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day. Our center is focused on providing a secure environment with communication with parents throughout the day utilizing the latest technology. Security Access Controls at the doors allow ONLY those with access codes to enter and cameras inside and outside the building record daily activities coming and going.
